With the holiday season just around the corner, Cyber Monday is the perfect time to grab a deal if you’re a PC games fan—or even just for yourself. The 512GB Steam Deck LCD is now priced just under $337, and at that price, it’s a no-brainer.
Alright, the Steam Deck may have gotten an OLED update, and there are plenty of more powerful handhelds out there, but the original version is still the benchmark for what a mobile PC gaming device should be.
It’s just as powerful as the latest model, so all those Steam Deck-compatible games should run smoothly. It’s the original PC gaming handheld and it still deserves respect. At the very least, because SteamOS is awesome, and it’s really affordable with this deal (which lasts until December 4 if you want more time to think).
You can take this from the entire PC Gamer hardware team (we all love the Steam Deck), or just from me, if you prefer. I’ve had this exact model on my bedside table all year, except when I’m traveling. Over the past year and a half, I’ve tossed it into airplane seat pockets, and not once has it disappointed me.
Sure, there are more powerful handheld gaming devices out there, and yes, you can now get a newer OLED version that’s even better, but the original Steam Deck is such a classic in its own right, it’s like royalty in the world of PC gaming.
